Fireworks: what the law allows
The Johns Creek Fire Department says the city follows Georgia law and the city noise ordinance (Fireworks Safety page):
- Dec. 31: consumer fireworks are legal statewide from 10 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.
- Jan. 1: legal from midnight to 1 a.m., and again during the day under the state’s holiday rule.
- Any other day: 10 a.m. to 11:59 p.m., as long as the city noise ordinance is met.
- City parks: setting off fireworks in a public park is banned without a written permit from the city.
The department’s safety advice: use only fireworks that are legal in Georgia, set them off outdoors in open areas away from homes and anything that burns, and soak used fireworks in a bucket of water before they go in the trash.
